Roederer Award winners revealed
The winners of the Louis Roederer International Wine Writers’ Awards were announced last night.
The winners and sponsors of the 2015 Louis Roederer Writers’ Awards
The evening was held at the Royal Academy last night (15 September) and guests enjoyed Roederer’s brut premier served from magnums throughout the evening and, after the presentations, the new 2007 Cristal as well.
Wines from sponsors, Domaine Faiveley, Domaines Ott, Ramos Pinto and Pio Cesare were also available to taste.
Speaches were given by Richard Billett, managing director of Maisons Marques et Domaines, Charles Saumrez Smith, chief executive of The Royal Academy of Arts and Michel Janneau, executive vice president of Louis Roederer who encouraged writers to continue to keep the wine world’s “narcissism” in check.
The big winner of the night was Telegraph wine columnist Victoria Moore who scooped two awards on the night including “Wine Columnist of the Year”, while db contributor Tim Atkin MW was named ‘Feature Writer of the Year”.
Michael Edwards and Anne Krebiehl MW were also nominated for their contributions to db and others as were deputy editor Lucy Shaw and senior staff writer Rupert Millar.
The winners were:
Andrew Barrow – Artistry of Wine Award
Dan Keeling – Emerging Wine Writer of the Year
Francis Percival – Food and Wine Writer
Victoria Moore – Online communicator of the Year
Ian D’Agata – International Wine Book of the Year
Tim Atkin MW – Feature Writer of the Year
Victoria Moore – Wine Columnist of the Year
In addition, Alder Yarrow was granted the Chairman’s Award and Michel Joly was commended for his work in the “Artistry” category.
