Cowboy avoids DUI by riding horse home
A cowboy who found himself too intoxicated to drive himself home avoided a drink driving charge by riding his horse home down the highway.
Jake Williams, of Louisiana, had driven himself to a nearby daiquiri shop, with his horse Sugar riding behind in a trailer, but considered himself too drunk to drive upon leaving the premises. His solution was to unhitch Sugar and cruise down the highway riding his four-legged friend, as reported by The Huffington Post.
His plan however didn’t quite go to plan. The authorities caught up with him en route, but because he wasn’t driving a motorised vehicle, police were unable to charge him with driving under the influence. Instead they gave him a ticket for public intoxication.
Speaking to WBRZ, Williams said: “When you get a little too much to drink, why not ride a horse? It’s safer that way. The horse knows the way home.”
