Wally’s appoints new auction chief
US wine merchant Wally’s has named Julia Gilbert as the new vice president of its auction division.
Gilbert has been with Wally’s since it created its auction business in 2013 and she has over 10 years of experience in the wine auction world upon which to draw, eight of those as auction director of Zachys.
Her appointment comes soon after the departure of Michael Jessen who, like Gilbert, was a high-profile defection from Zachys to Wally’s in 2013.
Wally’s president, Christian Navarro, said: “My partners Maurice and Paul Marciano and I eagerly anticipate Julia Gilbert’s and the Wally’s Auctions team’s continued successes. Fall 2015 continues Wally’s trend of high end, innovative auctions and we look forward to providing the unique brand of Wally’s client service to the world of fine wine.”
