The Week in Pictures: Hong Kong
A Lebanese wine pairing, a Thienot tasting and a trip to picturesque Sai Kung for a Portuguese feast. All in a week’s work for the HK db team.
Berry Bros & Rudd held a Champagne Thienot tasting where BBR’s private clients and members of the HK drinks trade sampled two NVs and three vintages from the Taissy-based Champagne house. One of the highlights was the 2002 La Vigne Aux Gamins Blanc de Blancs which has graced the pre-show party at the Oscars.
Combining the best of Lebanese wine with fantastic Cantonese food, Domaine Wardy from the Bekaa Valley hosted a press lunch at the Kee Club. The organic winery showcased its 2005 Private Collection, 2012 Rose du Printemps, 2012 Sauvignon Blanc, 2013 Clos Blanc (made with Lebanon’s native grape, Obeideh), 2012 Les Terroirs and 2011 Private Collection white.
Next up was a Massolino tasting with winemaker, Giovanni Angeli. With a history dating back to 1896, the Massolino family is one of the most recognized and respected names in the region of Barolo.
In partnership with Omtis Fine Wines, Portuguese winery Quinta do Carmo held a wine pairing dinner at famed Sai Kung restaurant, Mike’s Chicken Comida de Portugal.
