Three students carried a barrel of Tunnel Vision, a 4.2% amber bitter brewed by the Box Steam Brewery in Trowbridge, in order to set up a pop-up bar for fellow climbers, as reported by the Bath Chronicle.
The trio, which included Dave Cooke, 21, Harriet Allbrook, 21, and 19-year-old Oscar Price, all from Wiltshire, were joined by the brewery’s barman, Dom Lane.
The beer-loving team took four hours to haul the barrel, mats and pint glasses up the mountain to set up a pop-up bar. Ben Nevis in Scotland is Britain’s highest peak and stands at 1,344 metres (4,406ft).
The students took up the challenge after responding to an advert placed by the brewery.
When asked why is launched the challenge, Andy Roberts, Box Steam’s managing director, said: “Tunnel Vision is one of our most popular beers and we’re proud to see it served all over the country. We don’t want anyone to miss out, so here we are – the highest bar in the UK. This expedition is slightly more exploratory than our usual field marketing.”
