Steakhouse puts kangaroo on the menu
London steakhouse “M” in the City has risked incurring the wrath of animal activists by putting kangaroo, python and crocodile on the menu.
To coincide with the beginning of the game season this autumn, the restaurant will offer a more exotic take on the Glorious 12th via a bespoke menu featuring crocodile with quails eggs and bone marrow, python steak and kangaroo tartare.
The “Man vs Food” style menu was devised by South African head chef Jarad McCarroll, formerly of the Chiltern Firehouse.
M has gained a reputation for its out of the box approach – in February it pioneered the “BYOD” (bring your own dog) concept with a “Pedigree Pooch Brunch Party”.
The £25 ticket included a two-course meal for the owner and a doggy bag for their furry friend.
The 15,000 square foot space is the brainchild of Martin Williams, the former managing director of the Gaucho Restaurant group.
The restaurant specialises in steak from six nations: Japan, Australia, the US, Argentina, South Africa and France, including a 150g Kobe beef steak for £150.
A second M is due to open before the end of the year in Victoria.
You do realise that picture is of a wallaby, not a kangaroo right?!
