App allows users to ‘visualise’ taste
A new app that promises to offer an experience that is “the closest you can get to tasting a spirit without actually tasting it” is being launched.

Called Flaviar, the mobile app differs from conventional tasting notes by presenting users with a “flavour spiral” with visual depictions of the flavours associated with a particular drink.
It boasts a database of around 10,000 different spirits, complete with other information, ratings and reviews from the 600,000+ people already using the app.
Furthermore, users are able to purchase spirits directly from the app, in tasting packs or full-size bottles.
The app was launched on 27 July and is available on Apple products with iOS 7 or above.
Grisa Soba, Flaviar co-founder, insists that the flavour spiral makes the app stand out from other drinks apps.
“After having worked for almost three years on finding the perfect way to visualise a drink’s flavours, their dynamics and gathering data, we are convinced that the Flavour Spiral is what drinkers of fine spirits have been missing,” says Soba.
