Rare £16k collection of DP on sale

A London wine merchant has built a custom-made cellar to showcase a rare collection of Dom Pérignon vintages dating back to 1959, available to purchase from next month.

The wood and slate-based cellar at Hedonism Wines in Mayfair will showcase 11 wines from the Dom Pérignon P3-1959 to the Dom Pérignon P2-1996, presented in lit niches recessed into the walls.

Dom Pérignon’s chef de Cave Richard Geoffroy will host an exclusive tasting of the collection for prospective buyers on 20 October, with the vault set to open to Hedonism customers from late September until the end of the year.

Geoffroy believes that Dom Pérignon matures in cycles, reaching its first peak of maturity, or plénitude, after at least seven years’ ageing on the lees, with the exact amount of time decided by the characteristics of that year’s vintage.

The second plénitude occurs after a minimum of 12 years’ ageing on the, and the third requires no less than 20 years.

The vintages on offer to purchase include:-

  • DP P3-1959
  • DP P3-1962
  • DP P3-1964
  • DP P3-1969
  • DP P3-1973
  • DP P3-1975
  • DP P3-1980
  • DP P3-1988
  • DP P3-1983
  • DP P3-1990
  • DP P2-1996

“This really is an exceptional opportunity for Champagne connoisseurs to experience and purchase from this range of rare Dom Pérignon vintages”, said Mark Harvey, marketing manager for Dom Pérignon.

This unique collection, coming straight from the cellars of Dom Pérignon, will be available to purchase from Hedonism Wines for £16,495.00 (for all 11 bottles) and can be delivered to most countries overseas.
