db HK launches blind tasting competition

the drinks business Hong Kong is inviting wine enthusiasts to take part in its first blind tasting competition which will take place in Hong Kong later this year.

Launched in collaboration with Madison Wine, the first Hong Kong International Top Tasters (HITT) blind tasting competition will take place on 24 October at the Conrad Hotel in Hong Kong.

Over the course of one hour, teams of four will compete against each other to identify as closely as possible 12 wines of different regions and styles. Answer sheets will be marked by a panel of judges who will be tasting the wines at the same time as the contestants. The results will be announced during a charity dinner on the same evening.

db HK and Madison Wine have selected a local charity, The Autism Partnership Foundation, as the beneficiary of its inaugural event. We are very honoured to have the support of a large number of sponsors, including Sensis World, Vins de Corse, Graham’s Port, Banfi, St Hallett, Sarment, Marqués de Cárceres, Grace Vineyard, and many others.

We have commissioned Lee Watson, head sommelier at the Conrad Hotel, and Kimberley Drake, head of wine at Sarment HK, to work with chefs on creative pairings.

Entry fee for a team of four at HITT is HK$3,000, with dinner tickets sold separately at HK$2,380 per person (or HK$ 2,080 per person for HITT contestants). Confirmation of registration is on a first come, first served basis. We are limiting the competition to a maximum of 15 teams only. The event promises to be a fun and educational evening.
