Large formats lead Bonhams sale
Bonhams’ next London sale later this week will feature a significant proportion of large format Champagne, Bordeaux and Burgundy.
Held on Thursday 16 July, the sale will feature a many large bottles of Louis Roederer Cristal, with magnums spanning eight vintages including three lots of six magnums of the 1983 vintage (£2,500-£3,000 per lot).
There is also a further four lots again of six magnums from the 1997 vintage (£1,800-£2,500) and a Jeroboam of the 1989 vintage (£1,100-£1,300).
From a Swiss collection come two cases of 2000 Duclot Carre d’As in magnums and double-magnums, a Jeroboam of 1978 Pétrus (£3,000-£4,000) and a Jeroboam of 1988 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Richebourg (£2,800-£3,500).
There are also many cases of normal bottles including 2005 Latour and Lafite, 2002 Musigny from J-F Mugnier, three bottles of 1955 Mouton Rothschild and three cases of 1982 Cos d’Estournel (£1,700-£2,200 p/cs).
There is also a collection of white Burgundy from Coche-Dury, Lafon and Roulot as well as five bottles of 1978 La Chapelle and a parcel of Penfolds Grange from an Australian collection and which includes the 1998 vintage.
Bonhams director of wine Richard Harvey MW said: “Large format bottles are always popular particularly with private clients buying for a special occasion and this sale is especially strong in this area.”
