Irish pub’s list of drinking ‘rules’ goes viral
A list of rules dictating the proper etiquette when drinking in a typical Irish boozer has gone viral.
The list, complied by the Merry Ploughboy in Rathfarnham, near Dublin, has attracted 1.2 million views since it was posted on image sharing site Imgur, offering helpful guidance to the naive pub-goer.
As well as a number of “tips” that will be well-known to the trade, but which customers frequently fall foul to, the list also includes a few curveballs. Customers to this pub should be aware that hesitating for more than three seconds after attracting the bar man’s attention is a no-no, and that drinking a pint of Guinness before it has settled is an offence punishable by barring.
