Boutinot bolsters on-trade and indie offer
Boutinot has teamed up with Spanish producer Bodegas Murviedro to create a new entry level offering for the UK on-trade and independent sectors.
Called Fauno after the mythical faun said to guard the region’s vineyards, the range features a Viura/Sauvignon Blanc white blend and a Garnacha/Syrah/Monastrell red blend, both of which carry an RRP of £5.99 per bottle.
The wines come from some of the extensive vineyards owned or contracted by Bodegas Murviedro across the DOs of Valencia, Utiel-Requena and Alicante. In total the producer owns around 80 hectares of vineyard across these regions, with access to “top quality” fruit from another 1,500ha.
The new range was developed in partnership with Murviedro by Boutinot’s Spanish buyer, Jean Wareing MW. She introduced this combination of native Spanish and international varieties saying, “Murviedro has the same approach to the wine we bring to market as us: that they should absolutely deliver at their price points and offer the classic character of their provenance along with the fresh, fruit-driven profile demanded by the UK palate at that level.”
