BA first class to serve English still wine
British Airways has put its faith in still English wine with a new listing of Bolney Estate Pinot Gris 2014 from West Sussex in first class.
The wine is enjoying a stellar summer, having been the first English wine to be served at Wimbledon in the tournament’s 138-year history, it has now become the first English still wine to be served by BA.
The wine will be available to First customers flying to and from the US in August. Said to boast notes of “rose, jasmine, pears and honey”, the Pinot Gris was chosen by BA to pair with seafood, lightly spiced vegetarian dishes and creamy cheeses.
“Our customers have discerning tastes and we work hard to bring them the best in food and drink when they fly with us.
“We’re always particularly pleased when we can support British business, so the introduction of Bolney Estate Pinot Gris is a coup for our customers and us,” said Colin Talbot, BA’s head of catering.
Sam Linter, managing director and lead winemaker at Bolney Estate added: “We’re delighted that our Pinot Gris has been selected to be served in British Airways’ First cabin.
“This is the first time an English still wine will be served onboard the airline, and to us it demonstrates the quality reputation that English wines are now receiving.”
