Prosecco recalled after bottles shatter
The Wine Society has issued a full recall of one of its Prosecco brands after reports of bottles spontaneously shattering in its members’ wine racks.
The retailer recalled three batches of its own brand Prosecco last month after receiving reports of five bottles shattering, out of a run of 15,000.
However following similar reports of a “small number” of bottles of its IT17411 Prosecco Brut I Duecento, The Society has issued a further recall.
These bottles were said to have been sourced from a different supplier to the previously recalled bottles.
“Whilst the incidence of shattering bottles is limited, as a precaution we have also taken the decision to recall all remaining bottles of this wine”, said in a letter to customers.
Anyone with one of the affected bottles should not attempt to open it and should contact The Wine Society who will dispose of it safetly and credit a full refund.
