Man swigs back slug
A man nearly swallowed a slug after it found its way into his pint while dining at a branch of Harvester in Haywards Heath.
A slimy slug found its way into Mr Knight’s pint at a branch of The Harvester
Grant Knight was attending a child’s birthday party when he made the gag-inducing discovery, feeling a slimy lump in his mouth after taking the first sip of his pint, according to reports by the Mid Sussex Times.
Speaking to the paper, Mr Knight’s wife Linda said: “He thought there was a big slice of onion, because it was floating upside down and it was white underneath. He said ‘what is that?’and we looked and it was a huge slug in the pint.”
Not wanting to bring the 12-year-old girl’s party to an end, the group continued with their meal, despite many having lost their appetite.
The restaurant has since apologised, giving Mr Knight’s party a 33% discount on their bill.
A spokeswoman for Harvester said: “We apologise for any upset this has caused the guest when visiting the Harvester at Haywards Heath on Sunday May 24.
“The guest was given a substantial discount, which reflected the importance to us of the issue, and a replacement pint of beer at the time.”
