Film fest hosts in-cinema Sherry tasting
By db staff writerMore than 200 film enthusiasts were treated to an in-cinema Sherry tasting at the UK premiere of Sherry: The Mystery of Palo Cortado.
Hosted by Beltrán Domecq, president of the Consejo Regulador de Jerez and Manzanilla Sanlúcar de Barrameda at the Edinburgh International Film Festival, the audience was treated to an informal wine-tasting straight after the screening.
The film, which had its international premiere in February this year at the Berlin Film Festival, is an homage to Sherry, its history, production and to those responsible for cultivating its history and future. It also takes a detailed look at the history of Sherry’s “most elusive style”, Palo Cortado.
During an audience Q&A session after the film, director José Luis López-Linares, when asked what had brought him to the subject of Sherry, replied: “It was my love for wine, I had no idea of Sherry before we made this film. I have learnt everything about Sherry from making this film and for that I am grateful, and now drink it constantly!”
