Delegat aims high with new Barossa brand
Oyster Bay owner Delegat has launched “a new global brand” from Australia’s Barossa Valley, targeting “aspirational wine consumers in a contemporary style”.
Called Barossa Valley Estate, the current range features a 2012 Shiraz, 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon and 2012 Grenache/Shiraz/Mourvèdre blend. Each wine carries an RRP of £13.49 and UK stockists include Waitrose, Wine Rack and a number of independent retailers.
The launch is designed to expand Delegat’s offer in what it terms the “Super Premium” sector of the wine market, an area the New Zealand-based group noted is outperforming the wider category.
Henry Currie, national sales manager for Delegat Europe, introduced the wines saying: “Barossa Valley Estate will carve out a new, exciting segment of the market with a strong and authentic brand story and a contemporary range representing the best of the region”.
