Gaucho launches own-label beer

The Gaucho restaurant group, known for its successful chain of Argentine steakhouses across the capital, has launched an own-label blonde beer.

Called “Rubia”, the Spanish word for blonde, the pilsner has been exclusively brewed for Gaucho by Eichbaum Brewery in southwest Germany.

The beer is a joint venture between the 300-year-old brewery and Gaucho group’s bar manager Ian O’Reilly, who worked with the brewery to create a “crisp, light and refreshing beer with body and bite”.

“Our aim was to create a beer of equal quality to the food that would complement our menu as well as being perfect for guests to enjoy on its own,” O’Reilly said.

“It had to be something that looked smart and elegant, representing the elegance and glamour of Gaucho. The label is simple; black, silver and gold,” he added.

Rubia Pilsner is made with hops from Alsace and malt from Bavaria using water from local springs. The brew is now on sale at all Gaucho restaurants across the UK priced at £4.95 a bottle.
