Brewery to release ‘Wu Tang Clan’ beer
A US brewery is to release a barrel-aged ale named Ain’t Nuthin’ to Funk With after the Wu Tang Clan, having played the the rap group’s music continuously next to the barrel for the past six months.
Vince Desrosiers, head brewer at Dock Street in West Philadelphia, said the new brewer was inspired by the music he plays in the brewery each day, as reported by the Philly Mag.
“I listen to music every day in the brewery and I’ve wanted to do a series of beers based on the music I like,” he said. “It’s hardly an original thought but my musical taste is all over the place and Wu Tang seemed like a great place to start.”
While Desrosiers admits that the beer is a bit of a gimmick, he noted that Cambridge Brewing Company’s Will Meyers once stimulated the fermentation process using tuning forks for a beer he called Om.
“It started as a joke,” Desrosiers said, “and then we wondered if the bass would cause enough vibration to move the yeast around and create some different flavors during fermentation.”
Desrosiers has previously brewed a beer called Tom Selleck’s Mustache, which the star actually found out about.
Dock Street’s forthcoming Ain’t Nuthin’ to Funk With is described as a golden saison beer with spicy pineapple and orange-tart flavour.
