‘Bolly bike’ to debut at boat race
Champagne Bollinger is to debut a red “Bollinger Bicycle” at the 161st Oxford vs Cambridge boat race in London this Saturday offering Bolly by the glass and bottle.
The bike, painted in the house’s signature shade of crimson, will be positioned outside the Vesta Rowing Club on Putney Embankment from 2-8pm on Saturday.
Boasting a fridge at the front emblazoned with Madame Bollinger’s famous “I drink it when I’m happy and when I’m sad” quote, glasses of Bollinger Special Cuvée will be priced at £10.
In addition to buying Bollinger from the bike, spectators can also get their hands on a glass of the fizz along the course at The City Barge in Chiswick, The Blue Boat and The Crabtree in Fulham, and The Dove in Hammersmith.
Sporting history will be made on Saturday when The BNY Mellon Boat Race is joined on the Tideway for the first time by The Newton Women’s Boat Race.
First raced in 1829 (the same year Bollinger was founded) and 1927 respectively, The BNY Mellon Boat Races are among the oldest sporting events in the world.
Last year saw Oxford win both the men’s and women’s races, so Cambridge will be keen to chalk up a victory this time around. Bollinger is the official Champagne sponsor of the races.
