Top Gear Clarkson’s boozy backstage rider
The backstage rider of disgraced former Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson included more than 20 bottles of wine, revealing a taste for Veuve Clicquot Champagne and Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc.
Along with his fellow presenters Richard Hammond and James May, the three-page rider for the trio’s Top Gear Live included requests for Veuve Clicquot Champagne, Cloudy Bay Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc and Chateau Leoube rosé. If that was unavailable, Clarkson had requested a rosé that was pale, dry and preferably from southern France.
The trio also had a fondness for G&Ts requesting bottles of Bombay Sapphire Gin, tonic and ice, and bottles of Peroni beer – all of which must be chilled in a fridge or cooler cabinet with “at least four shelves” and served on a linen-covered table.
Steak knives, a PlayStation 3, a Nespresso coffee machine and balsamic vinegar were also requested by the presenters.
The list had in total 120 requests for when the trio were hosting Top Gear Live events, which take place at arenas in the UK and abroad and are separate from the BBC TV show. This set of demands, obtained by the Daily Mail, related to the last Top Gear Live event in Oslo, Norway, on 29 November 2014.
Last week Jeremy Clarkson was sacked by the BBC after he punched a junior TV producer, allegedly after he was served a cold meat platter rather than a steak.
The rider also specified they be located a stone’s throw from a McDonalds. Despite their famous disdain for anything American it sounds like they’ve already gone Hollywood, might as well sign with an American network and make it official.
Maybe because they intended to throw stones?
