New director for One Red Dot

Hong Kong merchant Onereddot has named Douglas Thomson as its new business development director.

Thomson joined just before Chinese New Year and replaces Ross Chan. He has previously worked at Italian Wine Merchants HK and Watson’s Wines.

Speaking to the drinks business he said he is particularly keen to bolster the merchant’s Italian selection.

“We only have three to four Italian labels and could certainly address it,” he said saying he has his eye on some Tuscan and perhaps some wines from Friuli as well.

Nonetheless, he added that, “we certainly don’t have a fixed theme at Onereddot,” and he praised the “strength” of the “varied portfolio”.

Onereddot is the biggest provider of Champagne to the Hong Kong Jockey Club, principally with Henri Giraud.
