ProWein beckons once again for a growing number of English wine producers now setting their sights on developing export markets, with the region making its largest presence at the fair to date.

This year, the English Wine Producers (EWP) stand will be located in Hall 9, stand 50, alongside South Africa, New Zealand and California and a host of “new European” exhibitors.

Boasting a large, custom-built stand, the England stand will house seven of the country’s leading producers. Those returning to the fair include Bolney Wine Estate, Chapel Down, Gusbourne Estate, Hattingley Valley, Hush Heath and Ridgeview Wine Estate. This year, Camel Valley from Cornwall will be joining the exhibiting group for the first time.

“With the export market growing in importance for English wines, ProWein is definitely a ‘must-do’ event for us,” says Julia Trustram Eve, marketing director at English Wine Producers.

“This year we have created more space to allow producers to exhibit their wines and meet with visitors and clients. We think the stand design reflects our pride in our wines and the fact that English wine is a world-class, global player. There will be an exciting range of still and sparkling wines on show this year – with some producers also showing their beer and cider,” she said.

Visitors to the stand will be introduced to the participating producers and, importantly, to their winemakers. The producers will be offering a welcome bottle of English beer, glass of wine or cider – or even a cup of tea at the end of the day for visitors wishing to relax and network.

This year, English sparkling wines will be featured in a tutored tasting on the Falstaff Stand (Hall 13, stand F10), on Monday afternoon from 4.30-5.30pm. Anne Krebiehl MW will present six wines, outlining some of the different styles now produced from this important and constantly growing sector.

On EWP’s hopes for this year’s ProWein, Trustram Eve continued, “ProWein has delivered some great sales leads to our producers and resulted in new markets opening. It also provides an excellent platform for producers to meet with their existing customers who are invariably visiting.”
