Clicquot to produce packaging from grapes
Veuve Clicquot will be the first company to produce packaging using grapes when the Champagne house launches its newest “Naturally Clicquot” next month.
Cliquot is committed to innovating while preserving the planet, according to the Champagne house’s international director, Laurent Boidevezi
The latest incarnation of the “Naturally Clicquot” packaging employs 25% grape waste from the wine production process that has been ground into a fine powder before combining with recyclable paper to create a gift box (pictured above).
According to the Champagne house, the new casing is 100% biodegradable and recyclable, and will soon be available in Tesco stores.
Naturally Clicquot has evolved from an original concept released in 2013, which saw Veuve Clicquot create a gift carton produced from potato starch and recycled paper (pictured below).
“We are the very first ones to use grape powder in packaging,” said Laurent Boidevezi, international director at Veuve Clicquot during an interview with the drinks business in January.
Continuing, he told db that caring for the environment was a “growing concern” for the Champagne house, which had “a commitment to innovate while preserving the planet”.
According to Boidevezi, this year’s Naturally Clicquot will be officially launched on 15 April.
