Meiburg MW added to symposium lineup
Debra Meiburg MW has been added to the lineup of speakers due to appear at the upcoming “Women of the Vine” symposium in California.
An award-winning author, TV personality, international speaker and the author of numerous wine education books and tools, Meiburg is widely regarded as an authority on the Greater China wine market.
She will present her insights on the industry as part of the “Grape Mavens: Women in Leadership Roles” seminar at the inaugural Women of the Vine Global Symposium, dedicated to the advancement of women in the wine industry in March at the Meritage Resort and Spa in Napa.
Born and raised in Sonoma County, Meiburg has been a Hong Kong resident for over 25 years, so will bring a unique “East-meets-West perspective” to the event’s key gender discussions and debate.
Deborah Brenner, founder of the Women of the Vine, said, “A leader in the Asian wine market, Debra is a natural choice for the inaugural Women of the Vine Global Symposium. As a highly respected and authoritative voice on China’s wine industry and more broadly on wine education, Debra has clearly broken through the gender barriers that are common in our industry traditionally, as well as the gender obstacles unique to Asia.
“What’s more, her drive to empower and lift the standards of not only women, but the wine industry as a whole in Hong Kong, is clearly evident in the plethora of educational activities she has founded and is committed to. Her unique perspective and diverse experience will thoroughly enrich the content of the Symposium.”
Meiburg added: “I’m ever-conscious of the great imbalance that exists with the number of males I interview. However, with initiatives such as the Women of the Vine Global Symposium, women from all corners of the globe and all sectors of the wine industry have a fantastic opportunity to connect, collaborate, foster cooperation and address this gender discrepancy.”
