London restaurant pioneers ‘BYOD’ concept
Recently opened steakhouse “M” in the City of London is pioneering the “BYOD” concept, inviting diners to bring their own dog to brunch.
The first “Pedigree Pooch Brunch Party” will take place on Saturday 28 March at “M” on Threadneedle Street, founded by Gaucho’s ex MD Martin Williams.
For £25, owners can pamper their pooches over a brunch that includes a canine Easter egg hunt with dog-friendly chocolate and a chance to have your dog’s “pawtrait’ painted.
The ticket includes a two-course meal for the owner and a doggy bag for your furry friend. There will also be a dog trainer on hand offering tips on how to discipline your mutt.
Among the spring-themed dishes on offer to guests will be duck eggs and soldiers and spring lamb.
A trend appears to be emerging for animal friendly establishments in London.
Last February, London’s first “cat café”, Lady Dinah’s Cat Emporium, opened in Dalston where visitors can sip tea and pet a clowder of feline friends.
Ornithophiles will be delighted to hear that Annie the Owl will pop up in Soho for a week next month, giving guests the chance to sip cocktails while petting barn owls Annie, Darwin, Ruby, Cinders, Winston and Hootie, a finalist in the World Owl Beauty Pageant.
“M” opened last December in a 15,000 square foot space. The restaurant specialises in steak from six nations: Japan, Australia, the US, Argentina, South Africa and France.
