Hong Kong in pictures

Ahead of Sotheby’s ex-cellar sale of Mouton Rothschild last week, the auction house held a lunch and tasting of the Bordeaux first growth. The late Baroness Philippine’s three children and the estate’s technical director all attended. The vertical spanned 2012-2003.

Sotheby’s Jamie Ritchie and Serena Sutcliffe MW sign “the big board”, as did all guests ahead of the tasting.

The 2010, 2009 and 2005 were obvious highlights of the tasting and showed why they are considered so great. Yet db‘s Rupert Millar thought that the 2004 (below) showed itself at the peak of its powers.

There he is, hard at work.

Katharina Prüm, winemaker at Mosel estate JJ Prüm, was in town to host a series of tastings and dinners in collaboration with The Fine Wine Experience.

Prüm lovers will have to slaver over what these pictures of what was served up from the Prüm cellars (as well as the 2013 vintage).

Rupert was not at that event but didn’t miss out on the Prüm tasting entirely, meeting with Katharina, her husband Wilhelm and The Fine Wine Experience’s Linden Wilkie for dinner at Peking Garden – which wasn’t entirely Riesling dominated.

Strange wildlife flocking in Hong Kong’s shopping hub of Causeway Bay.

And finally…always keen to bring you the best of Hong Kong’s motoring scene, Rupert snapped this far from untypical number plate on his way home from work one evening.
