California to show wines ‘then and now’
A Californian seminar in London next month called “Then and Now” aims to highlight the stylistic evolution in wines from the US state.
Picking on Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon, the event will consider examples from traditional producers alongside some newer players who are making wines in a different manner.
Led by Mark de Vere MW, the seminar will take place at the Go West US wines tasting on March 9 at 11.30am, and you can register your interest here.
De Vere, who is a UK native, has been living in California for almost 20 years and currently works for the Robert Mondavi Winery where he is director at the Constellation Academy of Wine, while also holding the post of North American education director for the Institute of Masters of Wine.
Speaking to the drinks business ahead of the event, he said, “There is a sense that there is a need to remind the [UK] trade that there are new producers; it is necessary to show that the Californian wine industry is new and exciting,”
