Entries open for New World wine award
The Vintners’ Company is now accepting entries from members of the international wine trade who wish to apply for the Geoffrey Roberts Award 2015.
The late Geoffrey Roberts, in whose memory the award was set up.
The £4,000 bursary is awarded annually to a candidate who can demonstrate “a proven track record of successfully furthering the cause of wines from the New World”, and who plans to use the funds to support the “further promotion and development” of wine from these regions.
Set up in 1996 to commemorate the life and work of pioneering New World importer Geoffrey Roberts, last year’s award went to Peter Csizmadia-Honigh, who is working to publish the first ever book on Indian wine.
Entries for this year’s award close on 31 March 2015 and submissions will be judged by Master Vintner Rupert Clevely, Vintners’ Scholar Susan McCraith MW and Bibendum director Willie Lebus.
