Drunk man takes space hopper for a spin
A “very drunk” man in Dundee had to be rescued by police after riding a space hopper down a dual carriageway on New Year’s Day.
At about 3am on 1 January the man was seen bouncing down the road on the inflatable toy into the Marketgait underpass going against the flow of traffic – which luckily was not heavy.
Police managed to apprehend the man and said he had been given a warning but that no further action had been taken.
Jamie Shankland witnessed the incident and told the BBC that it was a “surreal” sight, “like a scene from the movie The Hangover”.
Shankland arrived at the scene just after the reveller had been stopped by police. He said there was what looked like a big red balloon in the middle of the road, “it wasn’t until I passed and saw the two horns on top of it that I noticed it was a space hopper.”
He added: “I can only assume that the gentleman was space hoppering for some time because there is no path there.”
The man in question apparently had a “sheepish look” on his face and knew, despite being “very drunk”, that he’d done something wrong.
