db number one drinks trade website
The Drinks Business is proud to have been listed as the biggest drinks trade news site in the world, according to rankings published by Alexa.
Of the millions of websites in the world, thedrinksbusiness.com has been ranked as the most visited drinks trade news site in the world, and the 11th most visited drinks-related website in the world.
Our sister title, thespiritsbusiness.com meanwhile, is the second biggest drinks trade news site in the world.
Rankings have been determined by Alexa, a web analytics company that monitors the traffic of every website and ranks it daily based on its preceding three months of traffic.
The rankings, posted by DiffordsGuide.com, revealed that as of 12 January, 2015, thedrinksbusiness.com was the 46,958th most read website in the world.
Ranking ahead of Decanter.com, which sits at 71,882th, thedrinksbusiness.com is the only drinks trade news site to appear in the top 20 drinks-related websites in the world.
The website, with a daily newsletter and breaking stories, receives 2,000,000 page views a month and is read by 500,000 people from 184 countries. It is a major forum for discussion among industry professionals, covering everything from news stories to top industry jobs on the market.
Patrick Schmitt, editor-in-chief of the drinks business said: “We are very pleased that the hard work we have put into the website and online side of our publishing business has been well received. We hope to build on this success by continuing to inform and amuse our online readers with daily news, comment and analysis of the drinks trade.”

I think DB’s website gets a lot of traffic because the newsletter always contains at least one item that encourages the recipient to click through. That item might be different for each unique viewer. For me it is Patrick’s informed Champagne pieces, such as Marching to the Battlefield, which has a welcome technical content without being too technical. Well done!
