The addition forms part of a wider exclusivity deal with the domaine’s parent group, Labruyère Family Estates, whose other interests include Domaine Labruyère in Moulin à Vent, Château Rouget in Pomerol, which is sold through the Place de Bordeaux, and Champagne Labruyère.

The latter is a 6.5 hectare Verzenay-based estate bought by the family in 2012, which is due to release its first wine under the new label this coming September.

Domaine Jacques Prieur is based in Meursault with holdings in nine grand cru vineyards: Le Montrachet, Chevalier-Montrachet, Corton-Bressandes, Corton-Charlemagne, Échezeaux, Clos de Vougeot, Le Musigny, Le Chambertin, and Chambertin Clos de Bèze.

In addition the domaine’s 21ha total vineyard area incorporates a number of premier cru sites in the Côte de Beaune, spread across the villages of Meursault, Puligny, Pommard, Volnay and Beaune.

Commenting on the decision to work with this particular UK merchant, Edouard Labruyère said: “Joining Corney & Barrow is an honour, due to their high quality standards. I share with the C&B team the same values of trust, passion for great wines and selective distribution.

“Both Corney & Barrow and I are committed to make this partnership a great opportunity for wine lovers to share a much closer relationship and to discover our terroirs, owned since 1850 for some, located in four of the greatest French wine regions.”

Adam Brett-Smith, managing director of Corney & Barrow, commented: “Our strategy is very simple: to supply to the end consumer wines which are exclusive to Corney & Barrow, in all the markets in which we operate. Customers seem to like this very simple and direct approach a lot and clearly so do the suppliers! We are very proud that the Labruyère family chose us against stiff competition and we cannot wait to get started.”

The deal was concluded in time for Corney & Barrow to feature both Domaine Jacques Prieur and Domaine Labruyère Moulin à Vent in its January 2015 en primeur Burgundy offer.
