‘Cowboy’ ranch distillery opens in Utah
Utah’s High West Distillery has completed work on a second facility based on a working cattle ranch boasting luxury guest accommodation.
The result of a collaboration between the High West and Blue Sky Ranch the distillery 20,000 square foot distillery is based on a working cattle ranch and is said to be the world’s only whiskey distillery and luxury guest ranch.
High West’s second distillery will allow the company to increase its production and expand its distribution, which currently spans 39 US states.
David Perkins, who founded High West in 2007, said: “Blue Sky Ranch was the perfect partner and home for expanding our production. We couldn’t think of a more natural fit with the High West brand than an authentic cattle ranch. We both wanted to create a unique destination that celebrates three enduring symbols of the American West that we are passionate about: its natural beauty, cowboys, and whiskey.”
The distillery will open to visitors next summer along with a visitors’ centre and restaurant. The Blue Sky guest ranch is set to open to guests in the spring of 2016 featuring a 30-room lodge, eight mountain villas, wellness centre and dining facilities.
A number of “western adventures” will also be offered including horseback riding, trap shooting, fly fishing, cross country skiing and a “Cowboy for a Day” experience.
High West, best-known for its portfolio of super-premium craft whiskies, has a current distribution reach of 39 states.
