£85,605 Christmas hamper goes on sale

A Christmas hamper filled with fine wines, spirits and delicacies like foie gras, caviar and Alba truffles has gone on sale for £85,605.

Available via luxury website VeryFirstTo.com, the decadent offering is being billed as the most expensive hamper to have ever gone on sale.

Among the wines in the hamper are a magnum of Dom Pérignon 1961 celebrating the marriage of Charles and Diana; a bottle of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti 2002 and a bottle of Domaine Blain-Gagnard Le Montrachet 2002.

The official Champagne of Charles and Diana’s wedding, the bottle of DP has a bespoke crest created specifically for the ceremony.

On the spirits front, the hamper includes a bottle of Jules Robin 1789 Cognac, said to be worth £30,000 and a bottle of The Glenlivet 50 Year old worth £17,995.

The Dom Pérignon can be enjoyed in a pair of Versace Champagne flutes that come with the hamper, and the wine uncorked with a mother of pearl bottle opener.

But man cannot live on wine alone, hence the addition of a £6,250 tin of Almas caviar from Iran, known for its golden colour, a tin of goose foie gras with black truffles, 8kg of Joselito “gran reserva” ham and 100g of Alba white truffles.
