Going back a little to the beginning of the month and the end of the HKTDC fair, the db team in Hong Kong got to celebrate sales director, Andrew Oliver’s birthday – with a suitable cake of course courtesy of publisher Ivy Ng.

db had a chance to peek inside Omtis Fine Wine’s cellar last week as well, filled with treasures from all over the fine wine world but dominated by Bordeaux.

Wine of the week in a week of top wines, this Savagnin at Classified certainly came close – especially paired as it was with a rather nice cheese selection.

And finally, the Tsingtao-fuelled junk season is officially over and while catching a beer in Kennedy Town, Rupert was reminded of that fact when a flash of old Hong Kong went sailing gently by with its red sails and Qing Dynasty standards fluttering, strangely anachronistic among the super-tankers and modern cityscape.
