Bar blunder sees booze served to toddler

A US restaurant is under investigation after it accidentally served alcohol to a group of children, some as young as two.

Six cousins were served Shark Bite cocktails containing Bacardi Limon Rum, Skyy vodka, blue curaçao and grenadine instead of Shark Nibbles at Joe’s Crab Shack in Colorado, as reported by NY Daily News.

It was only after a number of the children had slurped down their boozy drinks that waitresses rushed over to inform their parents that the drinks served had been “made with the wrong ingredients”.

After one of the girls reported feeling unwell, paramedics were called in, however all of the children were later sent home in good health.

A bartender is said to have mistaken the order for Shark Nibbles, ordered from the kids menu, for a Shark Bite cocktail – a potent cocktail containing vodka, rum, blue curaçao and a “dangerous dose” of grenadine.

Parents Trista and Omar Montoya said they were “horrified” by the error.

The restaurant has issued a statement confirming that it is investigating the incident.

It said: “We do not condone underage service of any kind. Our guests can rest assured our processes are continuously examined so incidents like this are avoided.”

Police in Colorado Springs are also said to be investigating the incident.
