Wine world readies for Vinexpo Nippon
With the start of Vinexpo Nippon just over a week away, the full programme of events has been released.
Taking place on 1 and 2 November in Tokyo, speakers at the event will include Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve, Angelo Gaja and Albiera Antinori, the latter two presenting the latest vintages from their respective estates.
For Japanese speakers, sommelier Hisao Morigami, a member of the Association de la Somellerie Internationale, will present a food and wine matches while “Best Sommelier of Japan 2005”, Yochi Sato, will present “great” wines from the Rhône Valley.
Other masterclasses include tastings of Mouton-Rothschild, Clerc Milon, Almaviva and Opus One as well as broader looks at Portugal, Germany and spirits.
Fifteen countries will be represented at the event and alongside well-known brands such as Graham’s, Grey Goose, Codorniu, Kendall Jackson and Vega Sicilia, there will be products and companies being introduced to Japan for the first time such as Ceylon Arrack from Sri Lanka and the Escapades range of South African wines.
