Trade invited to Yvonne May celebration
Members of the drinks trade have been invited to raise a toast of Australian wine in celebration of the life of Yvonne May at an event set to be held in December.
Yvonne, regional director for the UK and Europe for Wine Australia, died on August 29 at the age of 53 after a five-month battle with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia.
A well-known and highly respected member of the UK trade, particularly with regard to Australian wine, Yvonne was credited with helping Australia to regain some of its former popularity in the UK with an increased emphasis on quality and regionality.
Her funeral, attended by friends, family and members of the wine trade, was held in Tunbridge Wells in September.
A celebration of her life will be held at Australia House in London on December 9 at 2pm, to which members of the wider drinks trade are invited.
Her husband David has requested guests to refrain from wearing all black stating his wish for it to be a “colourful affair”.
Should you wish you attend, please RSVP by Monday, 1 December, by emailing emma.symington@wineaustralia.com.
