Ribera del Duero comes to town
Yesterday saw the inaugural Ribera del Duero tasting take place in London and the DO’s top producers were present to showcase the wines of one of Spain’s most renowned regions.
As the second highest selling Spanish region, Ribera del Duero is widely recognized in the UK however the Consejo the Consejo Regulador de la Denominación de Origen de Ribera del Duero has embarked upon a UK campaign to help consolidate its position.
Yesterday’s London tasting, organized by Westbury Communications at the aptly named Westbury hotel, will be followed by a masterclass in Leeds next week as well as press and buyer trips to the region.
Simon woods will host the Leeds mastercalss on October 23 at the Park Plaza Hotel. Admission is free but places are limited so it is recommended to register in advance.
During the masterclass attendees will have the opportunity to discover Ribera del Duero and learn more about its history, terroir and winemaking practices.
Situated in the plateau between Valladolid and Aranda del Duero, Ribera del Duero became a Denomination of Origin in 1982 and boasts 280 bodegas. Among the most famous are Vega Sicilia, Dominio del Pingus and Pesquera.
