Hotel in Champagne diamond lucky dip
Assuming they don’t swallow it by mistake, one lucky guest at a New Year’s Eve party in Munich will find a €2,500 (£1,970) diamond in their Champagne flute.
The ‘Night of the Diamond’ is being organised by the Charles Hotel in its restaurant Davvero. Every flute will contain a crystal, only one of which will be the ‘Real McCoy’.
After the Champagne reception guests will be served an eight course dinner including king crab canapés, spiny lobster and shrimp dumplings. In keeping with the sparkling theme the courses will have names like ‘Deep Sea Brilliant’ and ‘Luxury Facets’ – which may sound better in German. At the end of the dinner, an expert jeweller will examine every crystal to determine who has won the precious jewel.
Tickets for the event which includes a disco featuring the legendary Bob Chisholm and his band will cost €350.
