Billionaire spends £2m at Playboy Club
A Russian billionaire’s £20,000 Champagne bill was waived after he spent more than £2 million (US$3.3m) on diamond jewellery at a private club in London’s Mayfair.
Luxor Brut Champagne contains 24 carat flecks of real gold
The unnamed billionaire took three hours to spend the fortune at the Vashi Dominguez fine jewellery salon privé in Salvatore’s Bar at the Playboy Club last night, as reported by the Evening Standard.
His purchases included an Art deco Asscher necklace for £980,000 ($1.5m), three diamond bracelets at £356,000 ($577k), £145,000 ($235K) and £109,500 ($176K), and 14-carat pear-drop earrings for £111,600 ($180k).
The total, after VAT, came to a staggering £2,042,520 ($3.3m).
The club was clearly very grateful for his purchases, deciding to waive his £20,000 bill for nine magnums of gold-flecked Luxor Champagne.
The event was attended by some of the most wealthy men in London.
One onlooker told the Evening Standard: “Among the guests were Arab royalty, Russians and very high net worth Europeans. There were as many personal bodyguards as guests.”
