WSET launches second phase of China programme
The Wine and Spirits Education Trust has expanded its Chinese language programme to include its level 3 course.
The WSET’s level 1 and 2 awards have been available in simplified Chinese for some time and a pilot programme for the level 3 was launched in the first half of the year due to increased interest from the Chinese market for advanced wine and spirits courses.
Six of the WSET’s approved programme providers were involved in the pilot scheme and together they have seen 150 Chinese students take the level 3 course and final exam in simplified Chinese.
The WSET said that: “During this initial phase of the pilot scheme, both educators and students have provided the WSET with valuable feedback on every aspect of the newly translated qualification, including the study materials, delivery of the course in the classroom, and the final assessments.”
As a result, the WSET has decided to extend its pilot programme to further programme providers as the year progresses.
It is hoped that the Chinese-language programme will be further expanded in early 2015.
