Ramsay eyeing Macau opening
Gordon Ramsay has said he has “further plans” for Asia, including a venue in Macau in the future.
Speaking at a press conference at his new Hong Kong restaurant, Bread Street Kitchen, Ramsay said: “You’d better get used to us; we have more plans for Asia and are looking at plans for Macau.”
Focusing on the present, however – having only opened the new Lan Kwai Fong venue on 8 September – Ramsay said: “This is an exciting step, entering the amazing food culture of the Asian market with one of our successful London concepts.
“I’m excited to be in the heart of Lan Kwai Fong, it’s a vibrant, lively place for everyone.
“We have also tried the local famous braised pork belly, Beijing duck, and other delicious dishes which gave us a great night!”
“There are five flights per day from London to Hong Kong, and it’s so convenient being able to fly into Hong Kong in just 12 hours! It’s amazing how accessible it is and the teams here and I will be back and forth a lot.”
Ramsay is the latest in a recent influx of British chefs in Asia, with Jamie Oliver opening a new outlet from his Jamie’s Italian franchise in the summer, Jason Atherton already firmly established in both Singapore and Hong Kong with various additions to his Pollen Street Social venues and Tom Aikens currently on board at The Pawn which is set to reopen next month.
