Tesco’s Dan Jago has given the additional responsibility of beer and spirits, broadening his role as the group’s director of wine.

The supermarket’s beer, wine and spirits categories will be brought together under Jago’s leadership as of 22 September with the intention of ensuring best practise within the group’s drinks sector and that promotional planning for its alcoholic drinks is “unified” across all categories.
Jago said he was “delighted” to have been given the responsibility, taking over from Gavin Warburton who is moving from beer and spirits to become the supermarket’s dairy category director.
He said: “Gavin transformed the way we buy and how we sell. He created a brilliant customer proposition and I relish the opportunity to continue his momentum. I am also looking forward to working closely with our beer, cider and spirit suppliers once again and will try to speak with and meet as many as possible in the coming weeks.”
Jago has worked for Tesco for eight years specialising in the wine and broader drinks category.
