Veuve Clicquot investigating tablet hoax

Champagne house Veuve Clicquot is investigating a hoax by a Russian marketing agency about the supposed release of Veuve-branded tablets.

Branded as “soluble Champagne”, the Veuve tablets can supposedly be dissolved in water, creating a similar flavour profile to a glass of Champagne.

Images of the Veuve tablets recently did the rounds on social media websites like Twitter and Facebook with Russian marketing agency Firma supposedly behind the stunt.

Veuve Clicquot denied all involvement with the product to The Huffington Post, while the CIVC has contacted Firma and asked it to remove all trace of the visuals and the accompanying marketing blurb.

It has not yet been confirmed whether or not legal action will be taken against Firma by either Veuve owners LVMH or the CIVC.
