The Morning Advertiser reports that all profits from the sale of Craft Pier – up to the target £10,000 – will go to the fund set up to support businesses affected by the fire.
Eastbourne Pier suffered from a serious fire last month that gutted out the 140-year-old structure, prompting a visit from Prime Minister David Cameron in the days after as a show of support.
Police are currently treating the incident as suspected arson.
Head brewer at Long Man Brewery, Jamie Simm, told the Advertiser: “When people drink [Craft Pier] they know they’ll be helping those affected rise up again, and hopefully it’ll evoke a real nostalgic sense of the seaside too.”
The brew is a new version of Long Man’s flagship Long Blonde beer with added ingredients including Phoenix hops. It will be sold locally in the seaside town.
Rachel Ainsley, licensee at local pub the Dolphin, said: “The Longman Brewery beers all sell incredibly well and without a doubt Craft Pier will do very well at the pub. The beer will become one of our permanent fixtures here and we are hoping to raise £10,000 from it.
“We are delighted to be involved in helping to raise money for the pier and there’s been a great community effort all round.”
