Wakefield Cathedral in West Yorkshire has launched a range of communion wines to sell to its parishioners.

Canon Michael Rawson, fundraiser Terry Rigg and Jeremy Stokes of Clarks Fine Wine

According to the Wakefield Express, the trio – a red, white and rosé, were made in collaboration with drinks wholesaler Clarks Fine Wines Limited in Westgate.

Money raised from the initiative will go towards a building project to renovate and refurbish the east end of the cathedral.

Priced at £7.99 each or £20 for the trio, the wines can be bought at Treacy Hall next to the cathedral

One of three Anglican cathedrals in the diocese of Leeds and the seat of the bishop of Leeds, the church has been celebrating communion with wine for nearly a thousand years.

Boasting the tallest spire in Yorkshire, the cathedral was made a Grade I listed building in 1953.
