Wine bottle foils robbery
A bottle of red wine was all that came between a thief and his potential victim in Australia’s capital yesterday.
A customer in Canberra intervened during an attempted supermarket robbery, smashing the would-be robber over the head with a full bottle of red wine, as reported by the Australian Broadcast Corporation.
Security footage from the supermarket showed the offender threaten staff with a knife before stumbling as the wine bottle made contact.
The unfortunate assailant then ran off without any goods or cash.
It seems one bottle was not enough however, as the suspect went on to attempt robberies at two more stores, again without success.
Police are looking for witnesses for all three robberies.
