First English sparkling wine sorbet
England’s first sorbet made from locally made sparkling wine has been released.
Hampshire based wine producer, Jenkyn Place, has joined forces with Cream and Country Ice Cream to launch what is believed to be the first sorbet made with English sparkling wine.
The sorbet was launched at the Vineyards of Hampshire Wine Festival earlier this month
Mark Murphy, founder of Cream & Country Ice Cream, explained the logic behind the partnership: “We experimented with a number of English sparkling wines but the flavours in Jenkyn Place’s Brut Cuvée worked best for us.
“The fact that the vineyards are in Hampshire, where our ice cream is made, was a bonus too,” he said.
Owner of Jenkyn Place, Simon Bladon agreed: “The opportunity to create a British product combining our English sparkling wine with top quality elderflower sorbet was just too good to miss.”
