BBR offers Burgundy discounts
London merchant Berry Bros & Rudd is offering a wide array of discounts on its Burgundy offering until the end of the month.
According to Purple Pages, the sale includes up to 40% off certain bottle prices and over 20% off case prices.
Jancis Robinson MW wrote that while the sale is being dressed up as the “Fête de la Bourgogne” it is perhaps more of a “sell-off” following some overstocking in previous vintages and a tricky sales period following rising prices.
Wine buying director Mark Pardoe MW said that the sale was an opportunity to raise awareness of “many delicious wines from new producers or less fashionable appellations slip under the radar.”
He added that with most Burgundy activity centred on January, “we thought it would be good to adjust the emphasis and give Burgundy a little time in the sun at another time of year.”
Producers included in the sale include: Olivier Merlin, JC Bachelet, Maison Roche de Bellene, Camille Giroud, Bret Brothers, Loichet, D Moreau and Liger-Belair and covers appellations such as; Pouilly-Fuissé, Puligny-Montrachet, Chassagne-Montrachet, Clos Vougeot, Meursault, Pernand-Vergelesses, St Aubin, Volnay, Vosne-Romanée and Aloxe Corton.
The sale is only taking place online and will run until 31 July.
